Infratel Calendar 2017
Bharti Infratel was entering the smart city space as early as 2017. With their calendar for the year, they wanted to depict a future which married the eternal art and heritage of Indian cities, with the infinite possibilities that IoT brings. Hence the theme ‘Postcards from the Future’.
On each page here, we see an illustrated visual of a dance form of one state Infratel operates in, with a present day skyline on one side, and a futuristic smart city on the other.
In keeping with their sustainability measures, Infratel wanted to go beyond and extend the printed medium of the calendar past its dated utility. We therefore, added 2 innovations: 1) each sheet was perforated, so the central ‘postcard’ could be detached from the body and pinned as a keepsake. 2) the envelopes were personalised and had names on them in metal. These were included into a tearable luggage tag, which would ensure this expensive process didn’t go to waste.

The outer envelope had a stamp with a postal mark on it, keeping with the idea of the postcards.

The envelope was sealed by a sticker made to look like a retro wax seal

The envelope opened from al four sides, revealing instructions on how to tear away and use the tag and the postcards.
Innovative tear-out luggage tag
We added an innovation to the envelope- a tear-out luggage tag which made use of the metal deposition personalised name on the envelope top- making the envelope last longer than its expected utility.
